FounderOS for Slack
The FounderOS Slack app connects your Slack workspace to your FounderOS account so Donna, your AI Chief of Staff, can read the channels and threads you choose and surface them in your Situation Room, venture pages, and daily briefings.
What the Slack app does
- Syncs channels and message metadata from the conversations you authorize — so context from Slack appears alongside Linear, Gmail, Calendar, and your other tools in one place.
- Lets Donna draft summaries, follow-ups, and weekly updates from Slack context. Nothing is posted back to Slack without your explicit approval.
- Respects Slack's privacy model: we only read channels and messages your connected Slack user can already access.
What we do not do
- We do not train shared AI models on your Slack message content.
- We do not DM your team, post to channels, or use @channel / @everyone without an action you explicitly approve.
- We do not join channels automatically after installation.
AI disclaimer
FounderOS uses AI (OpenAI GPT-4o) to generate summaries, briefings, and suggested actions from Slack context. AI outputs may be inaccurate — always review before acting. Slack message content is only sent to the model when you trigger an AI feature; we do not use Slack data to train shared models. See our Slack integration page for full details.
Connecting Slack
To connect Slack to FounderOS:
- Sign in to FounderOS at app.founderos.ceo.
- Open Settings → Integrations → Slack and click Connect Slack.
- Approve the OAuth permissions on Slack's consent screen. You must be signed in to the Slack workspace you want to connect.
- After authorization, return to FounderOS and sync channels. Choose which conversations to include in your workspace context.
If you installed the app from the Slack Marketplace before creating a FounderOS account, complete signup at app.founderos.ceo and connect Slack from Integrations — the app will link to your workspace automatically.
Common issues
The app installed but nothing synced
Make sure you completed the OAuth flow inside FounderOS (Settings → Integrations → Slack). Installing from the Marketplace alone does not connect your account until you authorize from the app.
I don't see a private channel
The connected Slack user must be a member of the channel. Invite yourself to the channel in Slack, then run a channel sync from FounderOS.
Permissions were denied or scopes changed
Disconnect Slack in Settings → Integrations, then reconnect and approve all requested scopes. If your workspace admin restricts app installs, ask them to approve FounderOS for your organization.
I want to disconnect or remove data
Disconnect Slack anytime from Settings → Integrations → Slack → Disconnect. Cached Slack metadata is removed from your workspace. To delete all FounderOS data, use Settings → Data → Delete workspace or email us.
Something else
Email support@founderos.com with a short description, your Slack workspace name, and any screenshots. We'll get back to you within two business days.
